When an employee is temporarily required by the supervisor to assume an “acting” position which is outside the employee’s classification specification, the City shall provide compensation to the employee according to the following method: Section 14.
Acting Pay is granted to employees assuming the duties of a vacant, higher level position for a period of time. An employee will receive a five (5) percent increase for Acting Pay Compensation. The department shall submit another Personnel Action Form to stop the Acting Pay at the end of the pay period in which the acting assignment ceases.
Salary increases for an acting assignment should increase the incumbent's salary to at least the minimum of the grade of the acting position. A salary increase for an acting assignment should not exceed the salary that would be given should the acting role become permanent.
