How do I get a FAA medical certificate?

You must contact an AME of your choosing, schedule an appointment, complete an official FAA application form via MedXPress, and undergo a physical examination by an AME. If you meet the appropriate medical standards, the AME will issue you a medical certificate. Search for Aviation Medical Examiners in your area.

How long does it take for the FAA to get back to you?

From the time that the FAA has ALL the documents that they need to make a decision, then the said time clock begins. For those cases that are uncomplicated, 1st class applications take on average 1-2 months for a decision, 2nd class is 2-3 months and 3rd class can be 3-4 months.

Why does the FAA take so long?
