Do I need an MDI licence to teach driving lessons in South Australia?
If you already hold an interstate driving instructor's licence and wish to operate in South Australia, you can apply for mutual recognition status. Trainers who teach 4WD or defensive driving courses to people who already hold a driver’s licence, don’t need an MDI licence.
Who can supervise learner drivers?
You may be surprised to hear that anyone can supervise learner drivers as long as they are over the age of 21, have held their full driving licence for three years and are qualified to drive the type of vehicle in which they are supervising in.
Can a learner practise driving with you?
The learner can practise driving with you in any make or model of car. be fitted with L plates (or D plates in Wales) - these must be on the front and the back of the car be safe to drive - help the learner check it’s safe each time they practise driving
