Cancer stage 2 treatment

In general, stage 2 cancers tend to be treated locally with surgery and/or radiation therapy. Chemotherapy or other drugs may be used during stage 2 cancer treatment in some cases.

What is the best treatment for stage 2 cancer?

Stage II cancers are treated with either breast-conserving surgery (BCS; sometimes called lumpectomy or partial mastectomy) or mastectomy. The nearby lymph nodes will also be checked, either with a sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) or an axillary lymph node dissection (ALND).

How long can you live with cancer Stage 2?

stage 2 – the cancer has grown, but hasn't spread. stage 3 – the cancer is larger and may have spread to the surrounding tissues and/or the lymph nodes (or "glands", part of the immune system)
