They give slightly inflated quotes that are usually cheaper if you just call the insurance company directly, or use a broker. I was being quoted on their system for ~$3,600/year, which I thought was a bit crazy. I called around and got some quotes from TD Meloche Monnex, State Farm, Cooperators, BelAir Direct etc... Some were crazy, but TD and Cooperators both quoted me less than $2,000.

The reason they look at your car, even of it's not worth much, is because the type of car and the engine size etc. factor in to the risk group they assign you.
