Do you wet a carborundum stone?

Use your stones wet. The stones used wet worked far better than the ones used dry, the only exception was the 220 grit waterstone which performed the same. In all cases, the wet stones continued to function from start to finish with no loss in cutting ability.

Is a carborundum stone the same as a sharpening stone?

Most often rectangular or round in shape with a flat surface, the sharpening stone may be a half inch to several inches in thickness. The most common varieties are the whetstone or the carborundum stone.

How do you flatten a carborundum stone?

Apply 100-grit, self-adhesive, wet-dry sandpaper and rub the wetted (or oiled) stone over it until flat. Repeat with a few strokes on 400-grit paper to remove any coarse scratches. If you flatten your waterstones every time you sharpen and these stones show little wear, skip the 100-grit step.
