If you’re getting Carer’s Allowance or Income Support for carers, you can receive them for up to eight weeks after the death of the person you were caring for. The carer premium and other means-tested benefits may also continue for up to eight weeks. In some circumstances, Universal Credit payments can continue after a person died.

To apply for a payment after a death, you should contact the section responsible for the payment within the Department of Social Protection, as soon as possible following the death.
