Will HR professionals be removed because of automation?

I have been told that HR professionals will be removed because of automation and most of the professionals are incompetent and the least respected department within an organization.I would love to hear from successful HR practitioners as well as recent HR graduates.I am from a small island called Jamaica in North America.

Are there any incompetent HR people in the world?

There are MANY incompetent HR people. Good ones are in demand. And then sometimes the "incompetence" isn't really that, it's the ill-defined nature of the function at certain companies. There are also companies where HR isn't respected.

Is it possible to automate human resource management?

You can't automate everything to do with people and compliance and talent and recruiting etc. although the use of technology to manage these things is growing. This is good, it allows HR to spend less time on activities that have little value (albeit high priority) like data entry and filing. There are MANY incompetent HR people.
