Room for growth, learning and the joy of discovery: My simple advice to most people pursuing a career in finance (or most other industries) is to spend several years getting good at some niche skill, and then spend the rest of your years putting lots of leverage on that niche skill. What's it like to work at a financial planning firm?
I'm in financial planning and asset management. I truly enjoy working directly with clients. Problem solving, investment analysis and compliance management are major aspects of what I do on a daily basis. I'm with a small practice associated with a much larger firm, there are five of us in the office and I definitely prefer working on a small team.
