Careers in financial mathematics

A degree in financial math and statistics should not mean that you are automatically required to dress in a business suit and work on Wall Street. Other financial mathematics career paths can allow you to use your skills outside of the traditional office setting.

It’s useful in many industries and roles, and there are many potential applications in financial mathematics including: Economics: Economics is the study of how businesses or consumers produce and consume goods and services, including the supply and demand of goods. Statistics: Statistics is the study of data, including data analysis.

If numbers are your delight and you could recite the multiplication table in your sleep, a career in finance or mathematics should be a perfect fit. Many occupations use mathematics, but the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics lists four math careers: actuaries, mathematicians, operations research analysts and statisticians.
