How much will carer’s allowance increase in 2022/23?

This means this year’s rate of £67.60 will be increased to an estimated £69.70 per week for the 2022/23 tax year which is a rise of £2 per week. Furthermore, the new earnings limit for Carer’s Allowance will also go up to align with inflation which Carers UK estimates could put it at between £128 to £132 per week.

How it works. You could get £66.15 a week if you care for someone at least 35 hours a week and they get certain benefits. You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person you care for. You do not get paid extra if you care for more than one person. Carer’s Allowance can affect the other benefits that you and the person you care for get.

Is Scotland ready for a new Carer's Allowance?

The Scottish Government is working towards delivering a new benefit that will start to replace Carer’s Allowance by the end of next year, with a full national rollout planned for Spring 2024, according to a new progress report on the Social Security (Scotland) Act 2018.
