How does Carer's Allowance work?

How it works. You could get £66.15 a week if you care for someone at least 35 hours a week and they get certain benefits. You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person you care for. You do not get paid extra if you care for more than one person. Carer’s Allowance can affect the other benefits that you and the person you care for get.

Can I claim half my rate of Carer's Allowance?

If you are getting Carer's Allowance and subsequently become entitled to another payment, you can claim the other payment and get half your rate of Carer's Allowance but only if the other payment is a qualifying payment for half-rate Carer's Allowance.

What are the changes in budget 2023 for Carer's Allowance?

The person being cared for must require full-time care and attention. The below measures were announced in Budget 2023 on 27 September 2022 regarding Carer's Allowance. People who are in receipt of Carer's Allowance will get a cost of living double payment which will be paid from the week commencing 17 October.
