While choice of platform ultimately depends on personal preference, Magento has the advantage for enterprise e-commerce sites while WordPress has the advantage for products that rely heavily on content marketing. Both platforms have plenty of extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins to cover their weaknesses.
Magento is better for driving sales, while WordPress is better for marketing your website or online store. WordPress can support powerful ecommerce features, but they don't come built-in to the platform like with Magento.
