Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S) The Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics (DGCIS) is the premier organization of Government of India for collection, compilation and dissemination of India’s trade statistics and commercial information.
What data does DGCIS collect?
DGCIS receives the basic data for both export and import of goods in the form of DTRs (Daily Trade Returns) from different Customs formations and the Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as a part of the administrative data generated whenever any international merchandise trade takes place.
How DGCIS is compiling trade indices?
DGCIS is also compiling trade indices on unit value and quantity in addition to the compilation of trade data. Trade Data and related reports are being disseminated and published as and when required, as per need of Parent Ministry, other Govt. body and users and maintaining international standard.
