The Programme Budget 2020-2021 broke all-time records in terms of programme budget funding and implementation The Programme budget was approved in four segments: Base programmes (US$ 3769 million), Emergency operations and appeals (US$ 1000 million), Polio eradication (US$ 863 million), Special programmes (US$ 209 million).
The current approved Biennium Programme Budget for 2022-2023 is for US$ 6.72 billion. Base budget is the largest component and the scope is set by WHO, covering and work done across all three strategic priorities as well as the enabling functions – by country offices, regional office and headquarters.
The World Health Assembly approved a total budget of US$ 5.84 billion for the 2020–2021 biennium. The Programme budget for this biennium was presented in four distinct segments: the Base programmes, Polio eradication, Special programmes and Emergency operations and appeals.
