  • What are the rules for recognition of prior learning?

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is when your previous studies and/or work experience are recognised and counted towards your degree as credit.
The University may recognise prior learning by granting specific credit, non-specific credit, reduced volume of learning (RVL) or an enrolment exception request.

  • What are the principles of RPL?

The RPL process is a sound assessment process that requires assessment of valid, authentic, current and sufficient evidence.
Evidence must be collected and documented to show that you have the knowledge and understanding, as well as the practical skills required for competence to be achieved.

  • What is the recognition of prior learning?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that says experience does count when it comes to gaining a trade qualification.
It recognises relevant and appropriate skills and knowledge obtained through training, work experience and life experience.

  • There are a number of steps a person seeking RPL must take.
The process starts by filling out a free skills check to discuss your goals and to determine the requisite qualifications.
You're then required to build a portfolio with all supporting evidence, which is assessed by one of our partner RTOs.
