As I explain in the Rookie Anglican Guide to the Book of Common Prayer (AKA “BCP,” “Prayer Book”), the Book of Common Prayer is the comprehensive service book for Anglican churches (churches that trace their lineage back to the Church of England).
In 1955, the church changed its name from “the Church of England in the Dominion of Canada” to “the Anglican Church of Canada.” Today the Anglican Church of Canada is an independent, self-governing church in communion with the other 44 churches of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Alternative Services Series 3
Series 3 was the name given to the Church of England experimental liturgical material authorized at various times between 1973 and 1980.
Its characteristic, revolutionary at the time, was the use of the word 'you' when addressing God, rather than the traditional 'thou'.
