IOM defines corruption as the act of doing something to obtain some advantage inconsistent with official duty.
It occurs, for example, when fraudsters wrongfully use their influence of position in a transaction to their benefit or that of another party to whom the benefit is not due.
Fraud and Corruption are defined as follows: Fraud: Fraud is any intentional act or omission designed to deceive others, resulting in the victim suffering a loss and/or the perpetrator achieving a gain.

Corruption: Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain, including bribery.
The offence of intentionally deceiving someone in order to gain an unfair or illegal advantage (financial, political or otherwise).
Countries consider such offences to be criminal or a violation of civil law.
