  • What is multiplexed analog component encoding television system?

Multiplexed Analogue Component Systems (MAC) is a video transmission standard used in analog television systems.
It was developed in Japan in the 1980s and was primarily used in high-definition television (HDTV) broadcasting.
The MAC standard uses analog modulation to transmit video signals over the airwaves.

  • What was the need of Mac encoding?

Mac system allows to introduce feature like digital video effect because it maintains the video component separate by compressing the luminance and chrominance signals and then placing the signals on the same line along with the digitized sound as well as sync signal.

  • Multiplexed Analogue Components (MAC) was an analog television standard where luminance and chrominance components were transmitted separately.
This was an evolution from older color TV systems (such as PAL or SECAM) where there was interference between chrominance and luminance.
