excessive, anybody missing this many may be subject to a grade penalty, as outlined in the undergraduate bulletin.

swering questions. If something is not clear, ASK A QUESTION. I am here to help you learn, something I cannot
do if you do not communicate with me. If you are asked a question during class, ANSWER. Also remember that
`I'm not sure' is a perfectly acceptable answer for reasons already stated.Classroom Rules:During class meetings you will treat both your fellow classmates and myself with respect.
This includes, but is not limited to; not talking while others are talking, being cooperative during group tasks and

study. Note that this really is a lower bound. The more time you spend independently learning the better. It will
not be enough to simply attend lectures and attempt to regurgitate what you see on the board. Collaboration with
your fellow classmates is strongly encouraged. You are not expected to learn everything yourself. Maths is dicult,
talking to others is on of the best ways to digest it.Late Policy:Late assignments will only be accepted if there is a valid reason as to why the deadline is missed.
This may require proof (for example a doctors note for sickness).Make-Up Policy:Exams can be made up ONLY in the case of an emergency and ONLY if you request a make-up
exam BEFORE the scheduled time. It is your responsibility to contact me with a reasonable time to request a
make-up exam. 2Recitation:Recitation will be ran by Ryan McGaha and will account for 10% of your grade. For more details on
the evaluation in recitation you should consult Ryan's syllabus.Homework:Suggested problems for each section covered will be given but will not be collected for formal as-
sessment. The purpose of the assignments is to help you through the material from class in greater detail and to
prepare you for the in-class quizzes and exams. The problems on the assignments, unless otherwise specied, are
representative of the ones you will see on quizzes and exams.Quizzes:Quizzes will be given daily at the end of class, except on days with exams. They will typically last 10-15
minutes and will consist of one homework problem covered in the class before. For example, Wednesdays quiz will
be based on Tuesday's class material. If you understand the assignment problems then the quizzes should not be a
problem.Midterms:There will be three midterm exams. Each exam will cover the material taught from the class after the
previous exam until the class before the exam. You will be reminded ahead of time what to be studying. Like the
