  • Is 5G in the EU?

    The 5G Action Plan is a strategic initiative that will make 5G a reality for all citizens and businesses across the EU. Very high-capacity networks like 5G will be a key asset for Europe to compete in the Global market, with worldwide 5G revenues for mobile operators expected to reach €225 billion annually by 2025.

  • How many countries in Europe have 5G?

    According to GSMA Intelligence, a majority of European countries (34 out of 50) have already deployed 5G, and just over half of operators in the region (92 out of 173) have launched 5G networks.

  • Why is 5G not an issue in Europe?

    The aviation industry is worried that US 5G service is too close to the spectrum used by radar altimeters, which is between 4.2 and 4.4 GHz. Europe does not face the same risk, according to the industry, because there is a much larger buffer between the spectrum used by radar altimeters and 5G.
  • Within Europe, the Netherlands comes first, followed by Cyprus and Bulgaria. During its Q4 2021 results announcement KPN announced that it has modernized over 4,000 sites to date, and that its 5G network already covers more than 80% of the population using 700 MHz spectrum.
