    It is awarded to Air Force enlisted personnel for exemplary conduct during a three-year period of active military service, (or for a one-year period of service during a time of war).

    The AFGCM was created June 1st, 1963 and then in October 2005 a decision was made to discontinue the medal with the justification that good conduct is presumed standard, not an exceptional occurrence worthy of recognition.

  • What does 2 good conduct medals look like?

    The second award of a Good Conduct Medal would display a bronze clasp with two loops, the third would show a bronze clasp with three loops, and so on. At six loops, the clasp changes to silver, and then at eleven loops the clasp changes to gold.
  • They are awarded in bronze, silver, and gold according to the following scheme: Second Award: Bronze clasp with 2 loops. Third Award: Bronze clasp with 3 loops. Fourth Award: Bronze clasp with 4 loops.
