  • What is 8086 processor architecture?

    8086 does not have a RAM or ROM inside it. However, it has internal registers for storing intermediate and final results and interfaces with memory located outside it through the System Bus. In the case of 8086, it is a 16-bit Integer processor in a 40-pin, Dual Inline Packaged IC.

  • What are the features of 8086 microprocessor PPT?

    8086 has a 20 bit address bus can access up to 220 memory locations (1 MB). It can support up to 64K I/O ports. It provides 14, 16 -bit registers. Word size is 16 bits and double word size is 4 bytes.

    The 8086 has 14 16 bits registers. AX, BX, CX, DX, SI, DI, BP, SP, CS, DS, SS, ES, IP and the flags register. The last two are only accessed indirectly.
  • 8086 microprocessor has a 16-bit data bus and 20-bit address bus. So, it can address any one of 220 =1048576=1 mega byte memory locations. INTEL 8088 has the same ALU ,same registers and same instruction set as the 8086. But the only difference is 8088 has only 8-bit data bus and 20-bit address bus.
