  • What is the history of the Port Noarlunga Reef?

    The reef system is actually two reefs composed of consolidated gravelly-sand. Over 6 000 years ago, before the sea rose to its present level, the Onkaparinga River flowed via a gorge straight out to sea. This gorge is now the area south of the jetty that separates the two reefs known as The Gap.

  • What is port Noarlunga used for?

    Port Noarlunga is a picturesque seaside village located approximately 30 kilometres south of Adelaide and perfect to swim, kayak, snorkel, dive and fish. The red sandstone beach cliffs, long jetty and reef, make it one of the iconic diving destinations in the state.

  • How long is the Port Noarlunga jetty?

    Be prepared for a bit of a walk when you're diving this site, especially if you're jumping in from the last mentioned stairs, as the jetty itself is about 300 metres long and, as parking is limited at the base of the jetty, you'll usually end up parking in the big car park, which adds an extra 100 metres to the walk.
  • The end of the jetty is about 15 metres above the water. The jetty is popular for divers wanting to explore the reef at the end of it.
