  • What is A1 descriptor in CEFR?

    Level A1.
    Descriptors: Can understand everyday expressions aimed at the satisfaction of simple needs of a concrete type, delivered directly to him/her in clear, slow and repeated speech by a sympathetic speaker.

  • What is the pre A1 language level?

    At Pre-A1 level, production occurs only at the level of uttering/using individual words (telegraphic speech) or using simple formulaic expressions (e.g. 'Excuse me,' 'Sorry', 'Please,' 'Thanks', 'No thank you' etc).

    A1 Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.

    The CEFR organises language proficiency in six levels, A1 to C2, which can be regrouped into three broad levels: Basic User, Independent User and Proficient User, and that can be further subdivided according to the needs of the local context.
