[PDF] analog map sensor

  • Are MAP sensors analog or digital?

MAP automotive sensors are available in both digital and analog designs for different applications. Analog MAP sensors produce a ratiometric analog voltage output proportional to the applied pressure, while digital MAP sensors use a digital communication protocol.
  • How does a MAP sensor work?

    MAP Sensors
The sensor provides instant manifold pressure information to the engine's electronic control unit. The data is used to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate, which in turn determines the required fuel delivery for perfect combustion.
  • What is a ECU MAP sensor?

The Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP sensor) measures inlet manifold pressure indicating engine load. The output signal from the MAP sensor and the air temperature sensor are required by the ECU to calculate intake air mass.
  • When the engine is off, normal manifold absolute pressure is the same as the barometric pressure (atmospheric pressure) outside your car. Under normal conditions, actual atmospheric pressure or air pressure is usually around 14.7 PSI (29.9 inHg) at sea level.
