You should see two PDF options: Adobe PDF (Print) and Adobe PDF (Interactive). An interactive PDF preserves interactivity you add in InDesign, like buttons and links in a document. In this case, choose Adobe PDF (Print), since this document will be viewed and possibly printed. Change the name if you want. Then click Save.
You must use AI format if you wish to manipulate the Illustrator layers in InDesign. Choose File > Save As. Choose Adobe Illustrator (AI) for the file format, and then click the Save button. Fill in the Illustrator Options dialog as shown below, and then click the OK button.
Select Use InDesign Document Name As The Output Filename, if you want the exported PDF to have the same name as the name of the document from the next export. For Save As Type (Windows) or Format (Mac OS), choose Adobe PDF (Interactive), and then click Save. Specify options in the Export To Interactive PDF dialog box, and then click OK.
The last step is to export the PDF so the interactive content works in the PDF. With the file saved, choose File > Export. In the Export dialog box, choose Adobe PDF (Interactive) as the format. In the Export to interactive PDF dialog box, you can set options like fitting the page in the viewer, showing as spreads, page transitions, and more.
