The Hermeneia commentary series seeks to offer authoritative interpretation of the earliest texts of the biblical books and other literature closely related to the Bible. The name Hermeneia , from the Greek, has a rich background in the history of biblical interpretation as a term for the detailed, systematic exposition of a scriptural work.
There are approximately 40 volumes in the Hermeneia series, most of which are bible commentaries, though a few cover specialty topics such as The Sermon on the Mount and the theoretical Gospels-studies document, Q. Volumes are still being published and Fortress Press indicates that new volumes will eventually replace the older ones in the series.
Other romanizations include pili pili in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and peri peri in Malawi, deriving from various pronunciations of the word in different parts of Bantu-speaking Africa. Peri peri is also the spelling used as a loanword in some African Portuguese-language countries, especially in the Mozambican community.
