Canada’s Food Price Report 2019 is a collaborative effort between Dalhousie University, led by the Faculties of Management and Agriculture, and the University of Guelph’s Arrell Food Institute. Dalhousie University and the University of Guelph present herein Canada’s Food Price Report for 2019, the ninth edition of this report.
The 2020 forecast suggests overall food prices will increase 2 to 4%. It also predicts that annual food expenditure for the average Canadian family will rise by $487 from 2019 figures. Annually, this represents a total forecasted household expenditure on food of $12,667.
Prince Edward Island experienced the highest increase in food prices in 2020.
