The world's total net wealth has hit $431 trillion, nearly half a quadrillion dollars, and over a quarter of it is controlled by millionaires. That $431 trillion figure includes "the sum of financial wealth and real assets, net of liabilities," explains Anna Zakrzewski, author of a new report from Boston Consulting Group.
The U.S. remains by far the richest country in the world, controlling some $105.99T of wealth, or almost 30% of the entire world’s net worth. Taken together, countries in Asia have a higher net worth than the U.S. at $141.21T, or about 39% of the world’s total.
Leading the pack is the United States, which holds $106.0 trillion of the world’s wealth — equal to a 29.4% share of the global total. Interestingly, the United States economy makes up 23.9% of the size of the world economy in comparison.
