How does USCIS schedule biometrics?
Most of the time, the USCIS service center or the U.S. consulate handling your application will inform you of your biometrics appointment with an appointment notice (called an ASC notice), roughly 5-8 weeks after you file your application._{Sep 25, 2023}.

A. Biometric Services Appointments

After a person files an application, petition, or other benefit request, USCIS may schedule a biometric services appointment at a local Application Support Center (ASC).
The appointment notice indicates the date, time, and location of the appointment.
The person submitting biometrics should bring the appointment notice and valid, unexpired photo id.
