Biometric passwords use unique physical or behavioural characteristics to verify the identity of an individual. Examples of these are fingerprints, facial features, voice recognition and iris scans as opposed to letters, numbers, and special characters.
Biometrics isn't a layer on top of passwords. It is a separate way of authenticating yourself to your device. Its usually involves saving the equivalent of a private key in your phone's trusted execution environment (TEE) and a public key in the app's data store.
Enhanced Security: Biometric authentication provides a higher level of security compared to traditional methods like passwords or PINs. Biometric features, such as fingerprints, iris patterns, or facial characteristics, are unique to each individual, making it difficult for unauthorized access.
