Completed between 1910 and 1916, the building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, as U. S. Post Office and Federal Building. In 1994, it was renamed in honor of U. S. Supreme Court Justice Byron White (1917–2002) a native of Fort Collins, Colorado.
