The architecture of Barbados is a reflection of the country's cultural and political history.
Originating from the seventeenth-century, the buildings located in Barbados can be seen as being heavily influenced by British colonial and West African architecture.

Barbados is an island country in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, in the Caribbean region of North America and the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands.
It lies on the boundary of the South American and the Caribbean Plates.
Its capital and largest city is Bridgetown.

The United States and Barbados have had cordial bilateral relations since Barbados' independence in 1966.

The Barbados Stock Exchange or BSE is Barbados' main stock exchange.
Its headquarters are in the capital-city Bridgetown.
The body was established in 1987 by the Parliament of Barbados as the Securities Exchange of Barbados (SEB), and remained known as such until August 2, 2001.
The unique four symbol alphanumeric Market Identifier Code (MIC) used to identify the BSE as defined under ISO 10383. of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is: XBAB.

Since the island country's independence in 1966, the economy of Barbados has been transformed from a low-income economy dependent upon sugar production into a high-income economy based on tourism and the offshore sector.
Barbados went into a deep recession in the 1990s after 3 years of steady decline brought on by fundamental macroeconomic imbalances.
After a painful re-adjustment process, the economy began to grow again in 1993.
Growth rates have averaged between 3%–5% since then.
The country's three main economic drivers are: tourism, the international business sector, and foreign direct-investment.
These are supported in part by Barbados operating as a service-driven economy and an international business centre.

The House of Assembly of Barbados is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Barbados.
It has 30 Members of Parliament (MPs), who are directly elected in single member constituencies using the simple-majority system for a term of five years.
The House of Assembly sits roughly 40–45 days a year and is presided over by a Speaker.

Saint Clement's Church, Lowlands, is an Anglican church located in the parish of Saint Lucy in Barbados.

The Parish of Saint Peter is one of eleven parishes in the Caribbean island country of Barbados.
It is named after the Christian Apostle and patron saint, Saint Peter.
It is located in the north of Barbados, and is the only parish besides Saint Lucy that extends from the east coast to the west.

St.
John's Parish Church in Barbados is the first church of St.
John that is presumed to have been a simple wooden building, but its date is unknown.
The parish along with St.
George, was carved out of St.
Michael in 1640–1641.
But successive churches were badly damaged by the hurricane of 1675, the Great Hurricane of 1780, and finally destroyed by the 1831 Barbados–Louisiana hurricane.
The present church building was built is 1836, and the chancel added in 1876.
It is the prototype of the restrained Barbadian version of the Gothic parish church, and a beautiful Westmacott sculpture, commemorating Elizabeth Pinder, on the left of the main door.

The Wildey area of the Parish of Saint Michael located roughly 4 km east of Bridgetown, it lies on the border with the Parish of Christ Church.
Normally a very busy area with the ABC Highway, Wildey is one of the main convergence points for vehicles travelling either towards the capital-city Bridgetown or towards points in northern Barbados.
In recent years the area was reconfigured for traffic mitigation, the tri-directional split or fork in the highway formerly known as the Wildey Y was changed to only allow southbound traffic to turn left or right on to Wildey Road only.
Northbound traffic must now travel on Wildey Road to Highway R road which brings traffic back to BET hill.
