Community health course description

Emphasis is on health promotion, risk reduction, and disease management across the lifespan in selected community settings.
Practice experience is required and can be completed in the community. 1.1 Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in the quality of care for patients, families, populations and communities.

The Bachelor of Science in Community Health prepares students to effectively plan, develop, implement and evaluate community health education programs.
Students in this program are exposed to material in health behavior, community health research, biostatistics, epidemiology, grant writing, health communication and professional development.

The project will involve identifying the problem and population, analyzing data, formulation a community health diagnosis, plans for implementation (including:

Build relationships and negotiate effectively with community members and leaders of community groups and organizations to achieve mutually set health goals

Utilize an interdisciplinary approach in performing community assessment, decision- making, planning, implementation and evaluation of population-focused care
