  • Many people face challenges and dangers they can't control — like unsafe neighborhoods, discrimination, or trouble affording the things they need.
    This can have a negative impact on health and safety throughout life.
    Positive relationships at home, at work, and in the community can help reduce these negative impacts.

  • Income and Social Status.
    Higher income and social status are linked to improved health status.
    These two factors may be the most important determinants of health.
    The greater the gap between the richest and the poorest people in an area, the greater the disparities in their health.
