Community health aide program

The Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) is a multidisciplinary system of mid-level behavioral, community, and dental health professionals working alongside licensed providers to offer patients increased access to quality care in rural Alaskan areas.

How long does it take to become a community health aide?

CHAs take part in four sessions of training-each lasts three to four weeks.
CHA/Ps at any level of training may obtain certification by the Community Health Aide Program Certification Board.

The “Community Health Aide Program Certification Board Standards and Procedures” serve as the guiding program and certification document.
The Alaska CHAP Certification Board has respectfully requested a pause in sharing any CHAP-related documents, references, and tools, including:

  • any one-on-one consultation
  • until this new system is up and running.

    The Community Health Aide Program Certification Board (CHAPCB) is federally authorized by Alaska Area Native Health Service and administered by Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.
