the IAR IDE is my favorite for its highly utilitarian look-and-feel.
Porting between the two compilers is quite easy.
My code can compile under both, the differences can be resolved via a set of macros + conditional compilation.
It is true that all tests are run on IAR.

The IAR C/C++ Compiler for 8051 provides six different calling conventionsthat control how memory is used for parameters and locally declared variables.
You can specify a default cal ling convention or you ca n explicitly declare the calling convention for each individual function.
