How a compiler is made?

A very simple compiler can be written from an assembler and machine code.
Once you have a software that is able to translate something into binary instructions, you can use the original compiler to write a more sophisticated one (then use a second further refined one to write a third and so on)..

How to create your own compiler?

1. Establish the language rules (grammar)
2. Be able to read a file, parse it, then build an validate an Abstract Syntax Tree from that grammar.
If you can't build the syntax tree, it's because some grammar is wrong (this is the concept of a syntax error).
