Complexity theory methodology

Complexity theory attempts to explicate the essential features of complexity which may appear in different phenomena at different levels of existence (Larsen-Freeman & Cameron, 2012). According to complexity theory, complex systems have certain essential features in common.
Complexity theory draws attention to the interaction between parts of the system, and this is often missing from data sets, making analysis difficult. Any analysis technique also needs to pay attention to change and time (Hetherington, 2013).
Finite model theory is a subarea of model theory.
Model theory is the branch of logic which deals with the relation between a formal language (syntax) and its interpretations (semantics).
Finite model theory is a restriction of model theory to interpretations on finite structures, which have a finite universe.
