How are CT images constructed?
CT images are two-dimensional pictures that represent three-dimensional physical objects.
The images are made by converting electrical energy (moving electrons) into X-ray photons, passing the photons through an object, and then converting the measured photons back into electrons..

A motorized table moves the patient (Figure 3) through a circular opening in the CT imaging system.
As the patient passes through the CT imaging system, a source of x rays rotates around the inside of the circular opening.

What is the principle of CAT scan?
CT uses ionizing radiation, or x-rays, coupled with an electronic detector array to record a pattern of densities and create an image of a “slice” or “cut” of tissue.

Why are CT scans used instead of radiography?
A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, sends radiation through the body.
However, unlike a simple X-ray study, it offers a much higher level of detail, creating computerized, 360-degree views of the body's structures.
CT scans are fast and detailed.
They take longer than X-rays but are still fast (about one minute)..
