Tomography impact factor

  • What is data tomography?

Computerized tomography is a technique by which three-dimensional (3-D) imaging of an object is made possible.
The basic data are most often obtained in the form of projection data..

  • The simplest method is linear tomography, in which the X-ray tube is moved in a straight line in one direction while the film moves in the opposite direction.
As these shifts occur, the X-ray tube continues to emit radiation so that most structures in the part of the body under examination are blurred by motion.
  • tomography. [ tō-mŏg′rə-fē ] Any of several radiologic techniques for making detailed three-dimensional images of a plane section of a solid object, such as the body, while blurring out the images of other planes.

Bimonthly peer-reviewed journal

The Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, abbreviated JCAT, is a bimonthly peer-reviewed medical journal covering medical imaging, with a particular focus on CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging.
It was established in 1977 and is published by Wolters Kluwer Health.
It is the official journal of SABI, the Society for Advanced Body Imaging.

Medical condition

Second-impact syndrome (SIS) occurs when the brain swells rapidly, and catastrophically, after a person has a second concussion before symptoms from an earlier one have subsided.
This second blow may occur minutes, days, or weeks after an initial concussion, and even the mildest grade of concussion can lead to second impact syndrome.
The condition is often fatal, and almost everyone who is not killed is severely disabled.
The cause of SIS is uncertain, but it is thought that the brain's arterioles lose their ability to regulate their diameter, and therefore lose control over cerebral blood flow, causing massive cerebral edema.
