Class of algorithms for solving constrained optimization problems

Augmented Lagrangian methods are a certain class of algorithms for solving constrained optimization problems.
They have similarities to penalty methods in that they replace a constrained optimization problem by a series of unconstrained problems and add a penalty term to the objective, but the augmented Lagrangian method adds yet another term designed to mimic a Lagrange multiplier.
The augmented Lagrangian is related to, but not identical with, the method of Lagrange multipliers.

Optimization technique for solving (mixed) integer linear programs

In mathematical optimization, the cutting-plane method is any of a variety of optimization methods that iteratively refine a feasible set or objective function by means of linear inequalities, termed cuts.
Such procedures are commonly used to find integer solutions to mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problems, as well as to solve general, not necessarily differentiable convex optimization problems.
The use of cutting planes to solve MILP was introduced by Ralph E.
Gomory.
