For most law firms, vacation schemes are the main recruitment source for training contracts and they will recruit up to 90% of trainee solicitors from their vacation scheme.
Most national and city firms will have law training contract deadlines set for 31 July.
There is no limit on the number of law training contracts you can apply for – but 10 is generally recommended.
However, every application you make will need to be customised for every law firm that you apply to.
This takes time as you will need to do your research and demonstrate to recruiters that you understand their firm and its requirements.
We recruit between 12 and 15 trainees annually and value each and every one of them as individuals.
You will get to know all the trainees in your year and the year above, and meet up with them regu.
The size of our trainee intake means you are given real responsibility, often working on cases from start to finish as opposed to just one part of the issue.

Our training contracts are designed to offer trainees a breadth of experience and consist of four seats that are rotated every six months, with the aim of providing trainees with as much exposure as possible to our business and clients.
During your training contract, we will work with you to ensure that your career aspirations and interests are met.
All applications for our trainee lawyer programme are received online and assessments are conducted on a rolling basis.
To avoid disappointment, please apply as early as possible as places may already have been filled by the deadline date.
First stage The first stage consists of a competency based telephone interview with a member of the early care.
As a new starter, you will complete an initial week-long induction.
Quarterly training sessions tailored for trainees focus on skills such as drafting, legal negotiation, developing your personal b.
You will receive a thorough grounding in the law, spending time in the various practice groups within the firm's main business divisions: dispute resolution, business services, private individuals.
If you are a law student, you should aim to apply for training contracts in the penultimate year of your studies.
If you are a non-law student you should look to apply in the final year of your studies.
Most law firms look to fill their training contract placements two years in advance.
