  • A cost transfer is when an expense is transferred from one account to another account after the expense was initially recorded in the financial accounting system or is an after-the-fact reallocation of expenses (e.g., P-card reallocations).
  • Transferred-in costs are the costs accumulated by the product at any given point in production.

After invoices are accounted, you can transfer cost details to Cost Management by submitting the Transfer Costs to Cost Management program.

How long does it take to complete a cost transfer?

Each Cost Transfer should be completed within 90 days from when the transaction (s) originally posted (GL Transferred Date) to the account (s) that will be credited in the transfer.
Cost Transfers over 90 days will only be approved under extenuating circumstances.
