Form of extrajudicial punishment or killing

Jungle justice or mob justice is a form of public extrajudicial killings which can be found in Nigeria and Cameroon, where an alleged criminal is publicly humiliated, beaten and summarily executed by vigilantes or an angry mob.
Treatments can vary from a muddy treatment, where the alleged criminal is forced to roll in mud for hours to severe beatings followed by execution by necklacing.
This form of street justice occurs where a dysfunctional and corrupt judiciary system and law enforcement have lost all credibility.
European principles of justice have likewise become discredited.

British TV series or programme

Rough Justice is a British television programme that was broadcast on BBC, and which investigated alleged miscarriages of justice.
It was broadcast between 1982 and 2007 and played a role in overturning the convictions of 18 people involved in 13 separate cases where miscarriages of justice had occurred.
The programme was similar in aim and approach to The Court of Last Resort, the NBC programme that aired in the United States from 1957–58.
It is credited with contributing to the establishment of the Criminal Cases Review Commission in 1997.
