Human geography leaving cert

Geography is one of the hardest subjects in the Leaving Cert to get an H1 in - so we created these notes that include:

Approximately, 27,000 students take LC Geography every year.
Of this number, 80% take it at higher level.
Leaving Cert Geography consists of four (O.L) or five (H.L) sections which make up the written examination + a fieldwork project.
The exam is worth 80% of the marks and the fieldwork is worth 20%.

The learning, use, and application of geographical skills is central to a student’s experience of Leaving Certificate geography.
Geographical skills are central to all parts of the syllabus.
The core geographical skills are listed for study in Core Unit 3 and are to be studied by all students.

The report on the geographical investigation will be assessed outside of the terminal written examination.
The geography teacher and the school principal will verify the authenticity of the investigation report as being that of each individual Leaving Certificate candidate.
Students must submit a report of an investigation as detailed below.
