Introduction to Cultural Analysis 1 (20 credits)- This module introduces ways of reading different aspects of culture
Optional Modules
Cultural History (20 credits)- You’ll be introduced to some social and cultural formations underscoring the history of ‘the West’ since the period known

Keywords (20 credits) - Representation, Form, Context, Interpretation and Power are words you’ll hear often while undertaking your course
Year 3 Compulsory Modules
Dissertation (40/60 Credits)- The final outcome of this module is a BA dissertation. The written dissertation should take the form of a coherently argued
What is a language & culture BA programme?
This programme and the first-year core module are run by the Language and Culture BA Programme Tutor
Languages are taught intensively, and you will be trained in speaking, reading, writing and translating in your target languages
Students on this programme develop their skills in both languages, along with interdisciplinary and cultural studies

BA Culture, Criticism and Curation draws on a range of methodologies from interdisciplinary practice and critical theories to engage critically with aspects of curation, research and writing
Game simulating contact between cultures
BaFá BaFá is a face-to-face learning simulation (game), invented by Dr. R. Garry Shirts in 1974, who also invented StarPower, and is published by Simulation Training Systems, Inc. The simulation is intended to improve participants' cross-cultural competence by helping them understand the impact of culture on the behavior of people and organizations. Participants experience culture shock by traveling to and trying to interact with a culture in which the people have different values, different ways of behaving and different ways of solving problems.
