  • How is a vascular ultrasound done?

There's no special preparation for a vascular ultrasound, and it's a completely noninvasive, painless test.
You lay on your back on an exam table.
The doctor applies a gel to the area being studied and uses a special transducer that sends sound waves (ultrasound) into your body..

  • What are the recent developments in vascular ultrasound technology?

Recent developments include the implementation of computerised tools for automated analysis and quantification of CEUS images, and the possibility to measure blood flow velocity in the aorta..

  • What is a vascular ultrasound for?

Vascular ultrasound is a noninvasive test healthcare providers use to evaluate blood flow in the arteries and veins of the arms, neck and legs.
Providers use this test to diagnose blood clots and peripheral artery disease..

    SVU Mission Statement
A community of vascular ultrasound healthcare professionals dedicated to high quality care and improving patient outcomes through education, advocacy, research and growth of the field..

  • What is the purpose of the Society of Vascular Ultrasound?

The Society for Vascular Ultrasound is the professional society of the Vascular Laboratory.
Our members are dedicated to the advancement of noninvasive technology (ultrasound) used in the diagnosis of vascular disease..

  • Who interprets vascular ultrasound?

This procedure is performed by a cardiac/vascular sonographer who is an ultrasound specialist in imaging the heart and peripheral vasculature.
The procedure is interpreted by a Cardiologist with advanced vascular ultrasound certification..

  • Vascular sonographers, also known as vascular technologists operate sophisticated diagnostic ultrasound imaging machines and transducers that use high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images, to record: Vascular blood flow.
    Blood pressure.
    Limb volume changes.
    Oxygen saturation.
  • Who performs a vascular ultrasound exam? An ultrasound technologist performs your vascular ultrasound exam.
These technologists have special training in performing ultrasound tests.

What is the Vascular Ultrasound Society?

Our members are dedicated to the advancement of noninvasive technology (ultrasound) used in the diagnosis of vascular disease

The Society has a diverse membership of over 5,700 vascular technologists, surgeons, cardiologists, lab directors, academics, students and other professionals involved in the practice of vascular ultrasound

The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) is a professional organization of physicians, cardiac sonographers, nurses and scientists involved in echocardiography, the use of ultrasound to image the heart and vascular system.
The organization was founded in 1975 and has more than 17,000 members nationally and internationally.
