Society and culture exams

  • Is society and culture hard?

    It's not easy, strictly speaking.
You need to have analytical skills and the ability to remember statistics etc.
But having said that it's not too content heavy for a Humanities subject.
The graphs/surveys only become a problem when the PIP rolls around but as long as you work on it consistently you should be fine.

  • Social change is complex because it is multi-directional, not necessarily uni-linear, it may be regressive and rates of change may differ within and between societies.
For example, the #MeToo movement raised awareness of the need to reduce discriminatory practices against women.
  • Society and culture allows students to develop an understanding of the key concepts of persons, societies, cultures, environments and time – the relationships between and among them.
Additional concepts of the society and culture course are: power. authority. identity.
